Website and online shop analytics

How many customers does your website bring in? And can you trust your figures?

You can see the visitors. It’s harder to tell where the enquiries came from, where people abandoned their shopping, and whether key actions are being tracked at all. I’ll help you verify the data and work out what changes you can make based on it.

Traffic figures aren’t the answer to everything.

If you don’t know what visitors did once they arrived on the website, it’s difficult to decide whether to tweak the offer, the page, the advert or the checkout process.

  • Your website is recording visits, but you don’t know where the enquiries are coming from.
  • The online shop has full shopping baskets, but orders aren’t coming in.
  • You can see different figures in GA4 and in the e-shop’s admin panel.
  • You’re tracking clicks on the button rather than submitted forms.
  • You’re planning changes but have no basis on which to assess their outcome.

We can start with a question to which you do not have a reliable answer today. Please send it to me along with a link to the website →

How I approach data

Check the figures first. Then understand the behaviour. Only then should you decide.

Before drawing any conclusions from the report, I’ll check what is actually being recorded. Clicking on a contact does not constitute a submitted enquiry. Adding an item to the basket does not constitute a completed order. When important steps are missing or are measured inaccurately, that’s exactly where we’ll start.

What you need to find out

Measuring your website and online shop depending on the decisions you wish to make.

There is no need to prepare another report if it does not answer any important questions. Together, we will determine what makes sense to monitor for your sales approach.

Where do the enquiries come from?

For a company website where customers decide whether to get in touch with you.

  • Which pages do people visit before getting in touch?
  • Whether submitted forms are recorded correctly
  • What can be found out about the sources of website traffic and enquiries

What happens before you place an order?

For an online shop that needs to understand the journey from browsing a product to making a purchase.

  • Viewing products and adding them to the basket
  • Order processing and completed purchases
  • Differences between mobile and desktop visitors

Review orders →

Can we trust the current data?

For a website or online shop where you already have analytics in place, but find it difficult to make decisions based on the reports.

  • Monitoring key events in GA4
  • Identifying missing and unclear data
  • Proposed modifications to the measurements and specifications for implementation

In accordance with the brief, I am using:

What you get

An overview of what you know, what you’re missing and what to do next.

  • An explanation of which data can be used for decision-making and where the gaps lie.
  • A list of key steps that need to be measured or verified.
  • Priorities for the next steps, which you can discuss with me or pass on to your team.
How to get started

You don’t need to know which report to open. Just tell us what you want to find out.

1.

Send us the website and your question

For example: “We don’t know where our enquiries are coming from”, “The number of purchases in GA4 doesn’t add up”, or “We want to find out where people are abandoning their orders.”

2.

We’ll agree on the scope and approaches

I’ll explain what can be verified from the current data, what further information will be needed, and what you’ll receive from me. We’ll agree on the price in advance.

3.

You will be provided with the information you need to make a decision

I’ll explain what the data shows, what cannot yet be determined from it, and which adjustments to the measurements or the website make sense to implement first.

Now that you know what the data shows

Measuring performance can be the first step towards improving a website or online shop.

If it turns out that the metrics are working correctly and the problem lies with the customer journey itself, we can proceed to analyse the website, its content or the checkout process. We will agree on the scope of this work separately.

Next step

Send me your website or online shop. We’ll find out whether the data helps you make decisions.

All you need is a link and a sentence explaining what you want to know. If the current data isn’t enough to answer your question, I’ll tell you what we’ll need to start measuring.
