Web analytics and website measurement

Do you know what people get up to online? And can you trust your figures?

GA4 shows you your visits. But can you tell from it where enquiries are coming from, what people do before making a purchase, and which metrics are being measured correctly? I’ll review your analytics and help you turn your data into actionable decisions.

Do you recognize it?

Measurement alone won’t improve anything. You need to know which data is reliable and what it tells you about your customers.

  • You can see the visits, but not the path leading to an enquiry or a purchase.
  • You’re not sure whether the form has been submitted correctly.
  • The figures from the advert and GA4 contradict each other.
  • You have the reports, but you don’t know what changes to make based on them.
  • You’re planning a new website and want to get it right from the start.

How I approach data

Check what is being measured. Find what’s missing. To decide what follows from this.

I go through GA4, Search Console and, where available, recordings or maps in Microsoft Clarity. I’m interested in whether the metrics capture key customer actions and whether it’s possible to draw reliable conclusions from them. Where the data isn’t sufficient, I’ll say so openly.

What is the purpose of the measurements?

Three questions that should be possible to answer.

Where do people come from?

What attracts the right visitors?

Search engines, advertising or other sources can drive traffic of varying quality. The number of visitors alone isn’t enough; what matters to us is what they do next.

What they do on the website

Where does the path to a decision come to an end?

I’ll take a look at where people navigate on the website, where they leave from, and whether they actually use important links or forms at all.

What will come of the visits?

Are enquiries and orders coming in?

There is a difference between opening a form, submitting it and making an actual enquiry. The measurement is intended to highlight this difference, provided the tools used allow for it.

How can we get started

First, we’ll check whether we can trust your data.

We can review your current metrics, draw up a plan for a new website or analyse a specific issue. I’ll tailor the scope to what you already have in place.

Verification of measurements

When the tools are running, but you’re not sure whether they’re capturing what’s important.

  • What is actually tracked in GA4
  • Whether the key steps and objectives are clear
  • What needs to be corrected or added

Measurement plan for the new website

When you’re setting up a website and want to know in advance how you’ll be able to tell if it’s fulfilling its purpose.

  • A list of steps worth following
  • Event configuration for developers
  • Post-deployment inspection as agreed

Discuss the plan →

Behavioural assessment

When you have data and need to work out where to start making changes.

  • Linking visitor numbers to the journey to the destination
  • GA4 and Clarity in the context of website content
  • Priorities for future work

What you get

Figures you can understand. And questions we still need to look into.

  • An overview of what the measurements reliably reveal and where there are gaps.
  • A specific list of missing steps or recommendations for adjusting the measurements.
  • A proposal on how to use data to inform decisions about the website, content or promotion.
What happens after the report

Tell me what you need to find out. I’ll suggest a plan of action.

1.

Send us the website and your question

For example: ‘We don’t know where the enquiries are coming from’ or ‘The figures from the advert and GA4 don’t add up’.

2.

We’ll agree on the scope and the necessary access arrangements

I’ll explain what can be checked, what requires the developer’s cooperation, and what you’ll receive from me.

3.

I will outline the conclusions and priorities

You will know what needs to be corrected in the measurements and which decisions the data actually supports.

Next step

Send me the website and let me know which figures don’t add up for you.

You don’t need to know which report you need. Just describe the decision you want to make; I’ll tell you whether the current data is sufficient for that.

Send via the form Send an email

Send me your website. I’ll tell you where you’re missing out on enquiries.

All I need is your address and a brief explanation of what seems off about the figures. I’ll get back to you with what I can find out and how much it will cost.

If nothing comes of it, I’ll let you know. This isn’t a binding order.
